MEN: ARE YOU TOO SMART TO DATE?

A new study from the University of Western Australia, published in the British Journal of Psychology, says that while it’s impossible for a guy to be too good-looking, they can be too smart for women to want to date them. Scientists asked 214 people to rate the desirability of potential partners based on different levels of intelligence, looks, how easygoing they were and kindness.
– Both genders said their ideal partner was near the top of the scale of attractiveness and kindness, but women’s interest in men stopped at those who were smarter than 90 percent of people. The reason seems to be that being super-smart means one would also tend to have negative social characteristics, like obsessive-compulsive disorder. They are perceived as too high-maintenance, so women would rather steer clear.
– When it came to looks, however, women rated the most physically attractive guys as always desirable, meaning there’s no such thing as too good-looking.
