MARINERS STADIUM SELLS OUT OF TOASTED GRASSHOPPERS

The concession stands at the Seattle Mariners first three home games last week sold out of toasted grasshoppers. Concessions served over 18,000 grasshoppers in 901 orders, or a total 30.8 pounds of insects eaten. The Mariners partnered with local restaurant Poquitos to provide the Oaxacan chapulines, or chile-lime salt seasoned toasted grasshoppers.
* I did not see that coming.
* Sales were hopping.
* I have a feeling sales went up after the first couple beers kicked in.
* Then it was mostly drunk guys daring each other.
* The hard part about cooking 18,000 grasshoppers is coaxing them into the little broilers.
* I hear the next insect snack they’re going to introduce at the stadium are fly balls.
* 30 pounds of grasshoppers is a lot. Of course most of those were eaten by seagulls.
* At least Seattle Mariners fans have something to take their minds off the slow start.
* Maybe this is a sign that Mariner fans have become suicidal.
* Over 18,000 grasshoppers? You really think they had a good count?
* Forget the grasshoppers. It’s on to the roasted scorpions.
