MARCO RUBIO'S "IT'S MORNING AGAIN IN AMERICA" TV AD FEATURES SHOTS OF CANADA
Marco Rubio has a new TV ad that references an old Ronald Reagan slogan. The announcer says, “It’s morning again in America.” Only the video that plays under it is a shot of a harbor with the Canadian city of Vancouver in the background. The footage comes from Shutterstock, a company that supplies generic video. In the skyline behind the boat you can clearly see Vancouver’s Harbour Center Lookout Antenna Tower. In addition, the flag on a passing boat is clearly Canadian.
* And the boat is clearly being piloted by a Mountie in full uniform.
* I thought Canada was in the U.S., eh?
* It’s OK. Geography isn’t that important when you’re president.
* The truly bad part: Americans hate mornings.
* At least the slogan wasn’t “It’s Monday morning in America.”
* See what happens when you let interns do the grunt work?
* Change the announcer part and let some Canadian running for office use the video.
* Come on. The guy’s running for president. He can’t be expected to keep track of every little detail of the campaign.
* Fortunately, Donald Trump is way too understanding to jump all over this.
* Just switch it to a Ted Cruz commercial. He’s from Canada.
* I’m sure Cruz would rather have this problem. He turned out to have a soft porn actress in his ad.
* Let’s be fair. The footage was from planet earth. It wasn’t like a B-roll from the Mars Rover.
