MAN STEALS MOTHER'S SOUP
Police say an Albuquerque man wanted his mother’s traditional New Mexican holiday stew so much, he broke into her home and stole it. Jonathan Ray ignored his mother’s commands to stay away from her “posole” and ran off with the holiday dish. Ray’s mom called police saying she was parking her car in her garage when the 23-year-old Ray texted her saying he was hungry and was going to her house to eat. His mom told him not to. As soon as she walked into her house, Ray ran in through the back door and went directly to the fridge. He grabbed the pot of stew she had made for her other kids and ran out. Police decided to charge Ray with burglary, and his mom agreed. Ray was picked up Sunday and booked into the county jail, facing a felony charge of residential burglary. Police have been called to kick Ray out of the mom’s home before, according to the complaint. She told police he’s not welcome there. “He needs help,” she says.
* Let’s all say it together: “No soup for you.”
* The mother was very upset and yet a little flattered, too.
* This takes “raiding the fridge” to a whole new level.
* “How do you handle a Hungry Man?” You arrest him.
* Now he can sit in jail and stew.
* It sounds like prison food is going to be a big step down.
* Now we’re getting to my favorite holiday stories: The ones with food in them.
* Shouldn’t this story include the recipe?
