MAN RETURNS STOLEN ANTIQUITY, CLEARING CONSCIENCE BEFORE THE “END OF THE WORLD”

An Israeli man returned a stolen 2,000-year-old catapult stone to the Israel Antiquities Authority. The man said he wanted to clear his conscience before the end of the world. As youths, the man and his friend had been touring the City of David site close to the Old City of Jerusalem. They found the large, round rock which had been used by the Roman Legion to catapult at fortifications in ancient times. One of the boys took one of the stones home. He married and raised a family – yada yada yada – and now, 15 years later, he said the stone has been weighing heavily on his heart. Combined with the apocalyptic feeling that the coronavirus has generated, he felt it was time to clear his conscience, and he asked an intermediary to return it to the Israel Antiquities Authority.
* Great, but now that the world is ending, who’s going to have a chance to see it?
* “Thanks, pal, but back in 2006 we just put an old round rock in its place and nobody knew the difference.”
* Well, this proves it. The Romans were real douches.
* See? If this guy can return a 2,000 stone to clear his conscience, how about some of you toilet paper hoarders cleaning your consciences and taking it back to the store?
