MAN IN OCEAN SAVED BY PASSING RANDOM BALL
A man miraculously survived 18 hours adrift at sea by clinging to a small ball lost by two boys on a beach 80 miles away, ten days earlier. The drama began when a tourist from North Macedonia named only as Ivan, 30, was one of three men to be swept out to sea by powerful currents off the coast of Kassandra in Greece. One of those men was soon rescued, another is still missing. Ivan was declared lost at sea when they were unable to find him. But as he struggled to keep afloat, a child’s ball floated towards him, the size of a junior basketball. As he clung onto the ball, he found it helped him to float. It turned out that the ball had been lost ten days earlier by two young brothers on the Greek island of Lemnos when it was swept away by tides. By astonishing luck, sea currents brought the ball exactly into the path of Ivan 80 miles away, saving his life. The ball managed to keep him afloat until he was finally spotted by rescuers. The boys’ mother recognized her son’s ball when the story was reported on TV news and she came forward with her part of the story.
* Then she grabbed the ball and ran home.
* You can’t ask for a better plot for “Cast Away 2: The Return of Wilson.”
* That’s great. Now do “Turner & Hooch 2”, where Hooch isn’t really dead.
* Wow – God was really looking out for Ivan that day, huh? The third guy, not so much.
* The lesson here is, if you find yourself adrift in the ocean, if you want to survive you gotta have some balls.
