MAN HAD 200 SCORPIONS IN HIS LUGGAGE
A Chinese man was caught trying to smuggle 200 live venomous scorpions through the Sri Lanka Airport on Monday. The scorpions were discovered in plastic bins inside the passenger’s carry-on baggage. Officials believe the man was likely planning to extract the scorpions’ venom once back in China. He was fined 100,000 rupees, or around $550, and allowed to continue on his flight back to China.
* And the scorpions? It’s Sri Lanka. They were grilled and served with curry.
* It’s sad. Those scorpions had big plans for their frequent flier miles.
* $550? Whoa, whoa– why so harsh, guys? All he did was try to take 200 large, live, poisonous scorpions into a populated, enclosed area and bring them to a land where, if released, they could damage an entire ecosystem. Surely a stern lecture would have been enough.
* The suitcase was a decoy. He probably had more scorpions smuggled in his rectum.
