MAN CRASHES INTO THREE FERRARIS

A young Taiwanese man fell asleep while driving and crashed into three parked Ferraris. But there’s more to the story. Lin Chin-hsiang had dropped out of college earlier this year to help his widowed mother at the family’s shop. He also works the nightshift at a barbecue restaurant and, after finishing at 3 a.m. on Sunday, he returned home to find his mom not feeling well, and so decided to help deliver an order for her. He fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into the ultra-expensive cars, owned by a group of friends who were meeting up before a scenic drive. Police said Lin had not been drinking alcohol and had a clean driving record. The story made the news, especially when it was learned that the repair bill for the cars would be 12 million Taiwan dollars ($390,000 US). With his low monthly salary it would take Mr. Lin 28 years to pay the full cost of the repairs. His family’s car insurance policy only covers injuries, not damages. What happened next was not expected. Dozens of people called the local police station handling the accident and offered to donate money to help pay Mr Lin’s repair bill. An official account was set up. So far, more than 100 donations have been made. At last report, 740,000 Taiwan dollars ($24,000 US) have already been raised. Many who have donated simply told him, “In the future, you just have to help society.”
* And the best way he can help society is to buy a bicycle.
* Get the mom a delivery drone while you’re at it.
* Never mind his car insurance – weren’t the three Ferraris insured? Penny-pinching rich S.O.B.’s!
* This has been a crash course in the Christmas spirit.
* Next time mom isn’t feeling well, maybe it would be better to just suck it up.
