LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER HAD TO WAIT TWO MONTHS TO COLLECT $1M LOTTERY PRIZE

A British Columbia lighthouse keeper had to wait two months to collect his lottery jackpot because he couldn’t leave the lighthouse. Ivan Dubinsky had used the PlayNow.com website to enter the Nov. 29 Lotto 6/49 drawing, and received an email saying he had won the top prize of a million dollars (US $764,856). But he couldn’t collect because he had to remain at the Port Hardy lighthouse to perform his duties, which include sending weather reports to marine vessels and aircraft. There was no one to take over for him. Mr. Dubinsky says, “There’s not too many lighthouse keepers available these days.” It was two months before he could find someone to relieve him so he could collect his prize. Mr. Dubinsky said his winnings will now allow him to spend less time in lighthouses.
* The first thing he’s going to do with his money is put in an elevator.
* Interesting fact: they have satellites that can give you the weather report these days.
* I hear they can even transfer money into your bank account electronically.
* I think someone was just pulling Mr. Dubinsky’s leg about having to stay there. Ha ha, good one.
