IRAN CUT AWAY FROM SOCCER MATCH BECAUSE OF FEMALE REF’S BARE KNEES

The Iranian state TV network was airing a Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur but they repeatedly cut away whenever the camera showed female referee Sian Massey-Ellis. They cut away more than 100 times because her hair was showing and she was wearing shorts and long socks, but her knees were exposed. Women are required by Iranian law to cover their legs and hair in public. Their solution was to cut away from the live action to views of London’s backstreets which, of course, caused an incredible lack of continuity of the game.
* The other solution was to stick her in a beekeeper suit.
