INDIAN MAN DIES TRYING TO EAT 50 EGGS

In the old movie “Cool Hand Luke,” Paul Newman wins a bet by eating 50 eggs. An actual man in Uttar Pradesh, India, Subhash Yadav, 42, died Monday after attempting to eat 50 eggs. Yadav had bet a friend 2,000 rupees (a little over $28) that he could down 50 eggs. The men purchased 50 hard-boiled eggs from a vendor and Yadav set to it. He was reportedly making good time up until his 41st egg. When he popped the 42nd into his mouth he fell unconscious. He was rushed to a local clinic, but never regained consciousness and died a few hours later. 50 eggs weigh approximately six pounds, and take up significantly more volume than the average human stomach can accommodate.

* If it’s any consolation, doctors said that, for Mr. Yadav, it was over easy.
