INDIAN COUPLE SUES SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW FOR NOT PRODUCING A GRANDCHILD
A couple in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand are suing their only son and his wife for not giving them a grandchild after six years of marriage. Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad, 61 and 57, say they used up their savings raising their son, paying for his pilot’s training as well as a lavish wedding. And still no grandbaby. The lawsuit was filed on grounds of “mental harassment.” They are suing for nearly $650,000 if no grandchild is born within a year. The parents said they were hoping to have a “grandchild to play with” during their retirement. Mr. Prasad said: “At least if we have a grandchild to spend time with, our pain will become bearable.”
* Have they tried Extra Strength Tylenol?
* Grandma’s got purses full of Werther’s candy just waiting.
* These two sound like a couple of big babies.
* Pressuring the son and his wife to have a baby? Sounds like “mental harassment” would be a perfect counter-suit.
* They could sign up for some kind of “Adopt a Grandchild” program, but you know India – there’s just aren’t that many people there.
