HUMAN CANNONBALL OVERSHOOTS THE NET

A human cannonball was seriously injured when he flew over the safety net and crashed to to the ground at a circus in Maipu, Chile. Crowds gasped in horror as Jaime Almarza Quezada, 40, curled himself into a tight ball moments before hitting the ground. Quezada was rushed to a hospital after the accident. He suffered a fracture to his chin and knees. The dad-of-two has been doing the trick without incident for three years, said cannon operator Luis Alvarez, who took responsibility for the accident. “Normally I shoot him with 80 pounds of pressure but today, I did not disconnect the hose. By the time I fired him, the air compressor lifted the pressure and fired him further.”
