HOSPITAL TELLS WRONG FAMILY PATIENT IS DYING

In Toledo, Ohio, Andrea Stebbins dropped off her 56-year-old Mother, Belinda Helton, at Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center last Wednesday morning for a tooth extraction. While waiting for her mother to get out of surgery, a nurse and doctor came into the waiting room, telling her that her mother went into cardiac arrest and was on life support, and to notify family right away. After calling family members, including her 87-year-old grandmother, the doctor came back, but this time with a different update. He told Andrea that there was a mistake made and they had given her information about another patient. Instead, doctors told that her that her mother was just fine and in recovery. Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center apologized to the family. Stebbins says that her mother is now at home and doing well.
* Bet that other family got a good chuckle out of it.
* Remember Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center’s motto: “We keep you on your toes.”
* Who is St. Vincent? The patron saint of mix-ups?
* Did they at least take out the right tooth?
* All the kids had to rush and put the valuables back in the house.
* Now the hospital’s lawyers feel like they’re dying inside.
* Oh, there’s going to be an extraction all right. And it won’t be a tooth.
* This extraction’s going to come out of the hospital’s legal fund.
* Maybe this doctor and nurse should extract their heads from their asses.
* This was in Toledo, Ohio? I wonder if they actually say “Holy Toledo” after something like this?
* Or maybe because it was Mercy St. Vincent’s Medical Center they said “Mercy!”
