HOOTERS WAITRESS DONATES KIDNEY TO CUSTOMER
A waitress at a Hooters in Roswell, Georgia, is donating her kidney to a longtime regular customer. Don Thomas, a frequent patron, lost both of his kidneys to cancer. Waitress Mariana Villarreal offered to donate one of hers and the pair had the surgery Friday. Villarreal and Thomas barely know each other, but Villarreal recently lost her grandmother to kidney failure and says she felt inspired to help Thomas. Dr. Harrison Pollinger, one of the program directors of the Piedmont Transplant Institute, says both donor and recipient should be able to live healthy lives after the surgery. Villarreal says she hopes their story will inspire others to donate organs to those in need.
* Now that’s what I call good service.
* How much do you tip for something like this?
* After the surgery, Don told Mariana “You’ll always be a part of me.”
* I know it’s June 1st but I’m pretty sure we have the Employee of the Month here.
* Wait, the waitress has a family history of kidney failure with her grandmother? Isn’t that enough to make you say no?
* And anyway, doesn’t this mean that bad kidneys run in her family?
* Roswell, Georgia? That has to be tough with the one in New Mexico getting all the attention.
* Of course, if it was Roswell, New Mexico maybe the space aliens would have taken this guy onboard and fixed his kidneys.
