HOME DEPOT WORKER STOPS KIDNAPPING, GETS FIRED FOR IT
Dillon Reagan, 32, was finishing a shift at Home Depot in Portland, Oregon, back on May 12 when he heard a co-worker yell for help. The coworker had witnessed a violent domestic dispute in the store’s parking lot, where he found a woman frantic and crying, “Somebody help me please! He’s stealing my kid, he’s kidnapping my child!” Reagan and his co-worker left and called the police. The dispatcher on the phone advised them to follow the man until the police arrived, which they did – it turned out to be a domestic dispute where the man had walked away from the store with the child. When officers responded three blocks away, Reagan said that he and the co-worker gave statements before returning to the store, in about 10 minutes. Reagan, who had worked at the store for four years, was later reprimanded by his supervisor. “He said, ‘You did the wrong thing. You should have just gone back to work.’” Then, for his actions, he was fired on June 19. But after being questioned about the story by NBC News, the store reversed its decision and offered Reagan his job back. He said no. He wants his next employer to not second guess his actions during an emergency.
* Hey – those patio displays aren’t going to assemble themselves, you know.
* So the management at Home Depot are tools, too.
* Even Homer the Home Depot mascot thinks they’re being dumbasses.
* Why do we call supervisors “supervisors” when they’re never super?
* Home Depot is a do-it-yourself store. Kid being kidnapped? Do it yourself, don’t bug our workers.
* Maybe he can get a job at Lowe’s – there’s always one right across the street from the Home Depot.
