HIGH SCHOOL KIDS CHANGE GRADES

A high school in southern Louisiana has suspended at least 45 students who were part of a grade-changing scheme. Principal Keith James of Beau Chene High School, located north of Lafayette, said that one student gained access to a program called Powerschool by obtaining a teacher’s password, and he was able to change grades for several students. James says the student would sometime charge money to change other students’ grades, but would also change them as favors.
* Give the kid an A for Computer Science, at least.
* Also, for Introduction to Economics.
* 45 students were suspended, but the kid says he can change that to a written warning.
* Wait, the kids learned it doesn’t matter how they did if they have the right connections? How is that not a good educational experience?
* There is some good news: the grade-changing kid has already been offered a scholarship by several big college sports programs.
* The kid charged a standard rate to bump up the grades – more if you wanted to be the class valedictorian.
* Beau Chene High School means Beautiful Oak High School. Although the kid will upgrade it to a maple for the right money.
