GUY PAYS HALF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR A PAIR OF USED SNEAKERS

Canadian entrepreneur and collector Miles Nadal paid $437,500 for a pair of Nikeโ€™s โ€œMoon Shoesโ€ sneakers at auction on Tuesday. It was the world record for the highest amount paid for a single pair of sneakers. The ultra-rare handmade shoes were designed for runners at the 1972 Olympic trials. Just 12 pairs of the shoes were manufactured and only โ€œa handful of pairsโ€ are known to exist. โ€œI am thrilled to acquire the iconic Nike โ€˜Moon Shoes,โ€™ one of the rarest pairs of sneakers ever produced, and a true historical artifact in sports history and pop culture,โ€ Nadal said after the purchase.
* And then he said, “Don’t tell my wife.”
* So they didn’t actually go to the moon, right?
* All sneakers are handmade, you idiot, by those poor kids in China.
* It’s good to see these billionaires putting their money to good use in helping the world.
* Anything that siphons off cash from rich goons is a good thing.
