GOSSIP IS GOOD FOR US

Researchers at Dartmouth College have a new study that claims gossip can actually be a good thing for people to spread. The study authors say gossip isn’t just about passing on rumors and saying bad things about others. They say it also serves to create social connections and even helps people learn new things about the world they haven’t experienced for themselves. Researcher Eshin Jolly says, “Gossip is a complex form of communication that is often misunderstood. It can be a means of social and substantive connection beyond its typical negative connotation. It helps people learn through the experiences of others, while enabling them to become closer to each other in the process.”
* That’s not what I heard.
* Well… it’s good for US. Not so much for the people we’re gossiping about. Isn’t that right, (show producer or traffic reporter or extra person in the room)?
* The authors of the study would say this, because they think they’re better than us. And they’re all sleeping with each other anyway.
* And word is this Eshin Jolly person gave everyone crabs.
* Good use of your parents’ tuition money, college researchers!
