FRENCH PET STORE CANCELS FISH BOWLS
A leading French aquarium vendor has decided to stop selling round fish bowls because they drive fish crazy and kill them quickly. French pet store chain AgroBiothers Laboratoire will no longer sell any aquariums with a capacity of less than 3.9 gallons and only rectangular ones. They claim putting fish in small bowls without filtration and oxygenation is animal abuse. Goldfish are social animals who need the company of other fish, ample space and clean water. Goldfish can live up to 30 years and grow to about 10 inches in big aquariums or outdoor ponds, but in tiny bowls they often die within weeks or months.
* I always thought that was the point.
* The French ram grain down goose necks with a rod. And now they’re worried about goldfish? That’s some progress, I guess.
* Do fish know the difference between a sphere and a rectangular block? That’s three-dimensional geometry for Pete’s sake.
* The moral here is: Don’t be koi.
* Maybe they can sell all the unused fish bowls as brandy snifters.
