DRIVER LEADS CHASE TO PRISON PARKING LOT, CLIMBS OVER FENCE TO GET IN JAIL
Police in Oceanside, California, tried to pull over the driver of a 1993 Nissan sedan for a minor traffic violation shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. Instead of stopping, the driver kept going, ending up in the town of Vista, where he meandered through the city for nearly 20 minutes before heading into the Vista Jail parking lot. He stopped, ran from the car and climbed over a fence into the jail intake area, where prisoners are taken for booking. Deputies closed the gate behind him and arrested him for resisting and obstructing police.
* There’s compliance, and then there’s compliance.
* It’s Otis from Mayberry all over again.
* It’s sort of a variation on “You’ll never take me in, coppers!”
* “I’ll do it myself!”
* Wasn’t he simultaneously resisting and obstructing police, and also going the extra mile for them?
* This is a head-scratcher. Maybe … he doesn’t like strangers touching him?
* Boy, some people will do anything to collect all the Pokemon Go characters.
* It doesn’t stop there: Next he booked himself and took his own fingerprints.
* Then he took a selfie for a mug shot.
* Of all the nerve: Now his lawyer is claiming entrapment.
* Is there enough information here to play our game of, “What was he on?”
* Since it was 2 a.m. I’m going to start with drunk driving. The rest? Who knows?
