DILEMMA: CRYING BABY IN FIRST CLASS

How many times has this happened to you: You’re flying first class when your baby starts to cry, and the flight attendant asks you to move back to coach? That’s what happened to Arielle Noa Charnas and her husband on their Delta flight from New York City to Los Angeles. They paid for two seats and were traveling with their 9-month-old daughter, Ruby, who started crying. Chamas writes:
“I was getting tons of eye rolls and head shakes from fellow passengers (as if I could just look at Ruby and say okay now it’s time to stop). A flight attendant came over to me and asked me and my baby to move to the back of the plane (as if the people in the back didn’t matter). Give up our seats that we paid for and move. I started crying because I was so stressed and anxious and instead of the stewardess being helpful and compassionate she instead made the situation worse.”
After all of the negative publicity, Delta Airlines apologized, refunded their tickets and offered additional compensation which, she claims, she will donate to UNICEF.
* As for the people back in coach … sorry, suckers.
* This story has been brought to you by Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones.
* Props to the husband for stepping up and doing nothing.
* You whisper to the stewardess, “Ma’am, you can let us keep our seats right here, or I’ll cause a disturbance that’ll have this plane turned back to New York so fast, you’ll be cleaning up spilled drinks for the rest of the flight.”
* You do that in your imagination, then move back to coach like the spineless schmuck you are.
* First the baby cries then the mother starts crying? Talk about an escalating problem.
* This is why first class needs a Cone of Silence.
* Maybe the flight attendant wasn’t as concerned with the passengers as getting the kid out of her section.
* I know, I know. I assumed the flight attendant was a woman from the use of the word “stewardess” and two PC wrongs don’t make a right.
* I think in a case like this Delta should get them new tickets, but on another airline.
* PHONE TOPIC: What should have happened here? Should they have let her stay in first class?
