DAYCARE STAFF THOUGHT KID WAS A DOLL

Police had to rescue a baby abandoned at a Chicago nursery by daycare staff. Cornelius Jones showed up at “All Things Are Possible for Kids” daycare 15 minutes before closing to pick up his 1-year-old daughter Journee, but no one was there. Jones could hear his daughter screaming through the locked door, but couldn’t get inside, and called the police. After breaking into the building, Jones saw his daughter crawling towards him crying. In explaining why little Journee had been forgotten, the director of the center said that they thought Journee was a doll.
* And not as in “she’s so sweet – a real doll.”
* “We thought she was a doll. You know – one of those new breathing, pooping dolls that always smell like old milk.”
* This is one journey Journee didn’t want to take.
* 1-year-old is too soon to be getting that “I’m being left behind by life” feeling.
* So they sent a real doll home to another set of parents?
* Hey, here’s a cooky idea – what if you kept a log of which kids checked in and checked out? I know it sounds nutty, but …
* It’s called “All Things Are Possible for Kids”? Well, they are sort of living up to the name.
* The positive thing is anytime the kid misbehaves you ask her if she wants to go back to the nursery.
* 15 minutes before closing? Sounds like this entire operation is 15 minutes from closing for good.
* The kid wasn’t crying about being abandoned. It turns out she’s a Cubs fan.
