COUPLE SUES OVER 3/4-EMPTY POTATO CHIP BAG
Sameline Alce and Desiré Nugent are suing Wise potato chips on the grounds that their air-filled bags deceived them into overpaying. The pair filed the lawsuit in Manhattan federal court on Monday claiming the Pennsylvania-based chip company was “misleading” customers by intentionally leaving their bags 58% to 75% empty. The pair argue in their complaint that they would have never bought from Wise to begin with if they knew about the “false advertising.” While the labels on the bags do show the correct weight of the chips inside the bag, the plaintiffs allege that a 2.75-ounce bag of Wise Ridgies Sour Cream and Onion chips – a 10-inch bag – is only filled to the 2.5 inch line.
* Imagine the disappointment when something you thought was ten inches turns out to be two-and-a-half.
* I can’t believe anyone is complaining about wanting more Wise potato chips.
* If you grew up in the east, Wise Chips are the ones that are famously green, and brown, and god knows what other colors. It’s a rainbow of potato colors in every bag!
* What a pair of Wiseacres.
* Who knows? They always talk about contents settling so maybe they’ll settle this lawsuit too.
* Think of it this way: If they filled these bags more we’d be so fat by now we couldn’t move.
* Gee, it’s not like our fine corporations to want to mislead the consumer.
* It’s not a strong case compared to the Foot-Long Subway sandwiches that weren’t a foot long. But good luck anyway.
* Maybe they could just change the label on the bag to read, “Now with more Air!”
