COUPLE CHARGED $10,000 FOR GAS TANK FILL UP

A couple in Florida were shocked when a nearly $10,000 charge from a gas station turned up on their credit card statement (* NEVER go for hi-test gasoline). Susan Gower said her husband had filled up their car at a Valero station in Fort Myers and used his credit card. The couple discovered the mistake the next day when they tried to use the card and it was declined. They checked their credit card statement and found a charge from the Valero gas station totaling $9,949.36 which would have equaled 27,000 gallons of gas. The bank told them to talk to Valero and have them reverse the charges. But the station’s manager told her it wouldn’t be possible to reverse the charge. The Gowers’ struggle with the gas station lasted about two weeks and Susan Gower was forced to pay for two rental cars out of pocket because her account remained frozen. Valero’s corporate customer service department eventually got involved and managed to resolve the issue by reversing the charge.
* I realize we have about three months to go, but I’m submitting the gas station manager for Jerk of the Year.
* “It won’t be possible to reverse the charge. Why? Because. Because why? Because Satan personally put me here himself to make your lives miserable.”
* $9,949.36 and they didn’t even get their windows washed.
* I think the relevant phrase here is “Buyer beware.”
* If I’m not mistaken, “Valero” in English means “Up yours.”
* For that much they could have had the gas truck come to their house.
* Hey, what’s a few extra digits between friends?
* Those are four of the most dreaded words in the English language: corporate customer service department.
* And they always say, “Listen closely. We have recently changed our menu to better serve our customers.”
