COP DELIVERS PIZZA FOR INJURED DELIVERY DRIVER
Last week, a suburban Detroit police officer stepped in after a pizza delivery driver was injured in a car crash to make sure a still-warm order made it to its destination. Lincoln Park police Cpl. Joe Sparks told The Detroit News that the collision sent the Jet’s Pizza driver to a hospital with bruises and a sore head. Sparks spotted an oven bag in the wrecked car before it was towed and saw that the delivery address was nearby. The 16-year veteran of the force says he “just figured it was the right thing to do” knowing that “someone on the other end was waiting for their food.” The man who had ordered the pizza, Carl Babik, who got the pizza, tolds local TV that when Officer Sparks appeared at his door, he initially thought that he had done something wrong – but the cop was only there to give him the pizza.
* Quiet, you idiot! Do you want them to search your house?
* The cop just thought it was the right thing to do? What kind of nuts are they hiring in Detroit?
* Yeah, I thought the cop sort of overstated his role here: “I’m not really a hero. Just an officer who loves pizza…”
* It was nice but I don’t think we could make a TV series out of it or anything.
* Wait, we should be encouraging this kind of behavior. This could happen to any of us.
* The real nice thing was when the officer reheated the pizza with his taser gun.
* I just picture a couple of stoners panicking: “Bro, could you look out the window? I think I just heard the door bell ring.” “Okay…Oh no…Dude, it’s not the pizza order. The police are here!”
