CHANGING OF THE GUARD RETURNS TO BUCKINGHAM PALACE

The famous changing of the guard ceremony at London’s Buckingham Palace has returned, after a prolonged absence due to Covid. British soldiers in red uniforms and bearskin hats paraded outside Buckingham Palace for the first time in 18 months. Spectators watched and took photos, while a military band played songs including the theme from “Chariots of Fire” and Spandau Ballet’s “Gold.”
* Golly, I hope the guards have changed their uniforms at least a couple of times in 18 months.
* 18 months of no marching. I wonder if those uniforms had to be let out a bit?
* Excuse me, did you say ‘Spandau Ballet’? You can see where the Palace Guard is steeped in tradition… from 1983.
* How is this whole “changing of the guard” thing not just being done with animatronic robots?
