CAFETERIA WORKERS FIRED FOR TAKING FOOD HOME INSTEAD OF THROWING IT OUT

Two lunch ladies are out of work after taking home leftovers from an elementary school cafeteria in Odessa, Texas. Someone posted pictures on Facebook of the women walking out of the school with bags of food. Federal law requires that workers throw away cafeteria food that isn’t consumed by students. Thus, the district said, the women knew it was wrong and fired them Wednesday.
* They should be hailed as heroes just for wanting to eat it.
* Sounds like one of the students got revenge for Mystery Meat.
* So … how many years in a federal penitentiary do you get for not letting food go to waste?
* Throw the book at them. And make it a cookbook.
* The women definitely did wrong. Some of that food could be put to good use by the government filling potholes and fixing roads.
* I know the tuna casserole is excellent in plugging up leaks in dams.
* Besides, if you let them take the leftovers, next thing you know they’ll be taking their share before the kids get to eat.
* Plus, there’s the ever-present lawsuit potential if they should get sick from cafeteria food that leaves the building.
* And it’s school cafeteria food. The chances of getting sick are not remote.
* Facebook – is there anything it CAN’T do?
