All the royal palaces and castles in England have been closed to the public during the coronavirus crisis. The staff, which numbers arund 200, is employed by the Royal Collection Trust, the charity that manages the tourism side of the palaces and the accompanying stores. With everything closed up, tens of millions have been wiped off the expected earnings this year. And that means… layoffs. The Royal Collection Trust has indicated that there will be a reduction in staff costs, which, they say, “is our greatest single expense.”
