BOY CALLS 911 OVER GIFT OF SNOW PANTS

A 7-year-old boy in Canada called 911 on Christmas morning at around 8 a.m. to complain about one of his presents. He had gotten some snow pants and wanted to let authorities know that they were โ€œnot appreciated.โ€ Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt later spoke to reporters about the importance of treating 911 seriously. โ€œParents or caregivers need to make sure their children understand the consequences of calling 911 and what constitutes an emergency,โ€ he told CTV News. โ€œKids need to realize that calling 911 is critical and serious. We donโ€™t want to waste resources going after calls that arenโ€™t an emergency.โ€
