AUSTRALIAN MEN LIVE LONG, PROSPER
According to a new study out of the Australian National University, Australian men are now living longer than men in any other country. Australian men have an average life expectancy of 74.1 years. That’s compared to 71.57 in the United States. The study examined the histories of 15 countries with long life spans to understand and contextualize their population data. One of the main reasons – there’s never been a major war fought on Australian soil. Study author Collin Payne says, “In contrast to a lot of continental Europe, there weren’t any world wars fought on Australian soil. If there is a war going on, the infant mortality rate tends to be a bit higher. You are not getting proper nutritional intake during childhood, and those things can show up in terms of health later in life.” Simply put, Australians have been enjoying the health perks of peacetime, which is boosted by their wholesome diets, tendency for recreation and laid-back attitudes.
* I think Australian men are just in better shape from constantly running away from all the things there that will kill you.
* This explains all the 73-year-old Australian men walking around with those smug faces.
* It’s because, being at the bottom of the world, they’re always upside down and that helps their blood circulation.
* Plus, in the outback, it can take the Grim Reaper months to track you down.
