AUDIO: WOMAN FALLS OFF CRUISE SHIP, SPENDS 10 HOURS IN THE WATER
A British flight attendant says she’s “lucky to be alive” after falling overboard from a cruise ship and spending 10 hours treading in the ocean overnight. Kay Longstaff, 46, was pulled from the Adriatic sea on Sunday morning, hours after she fell off the back of the Norwegian Star cruise ship as it sailed off the coast of Croatia. She was taken to a hospital in Pula, Croatia, and discharged shortly afterward. She said the fact that she was fit because she practices yoga helped, and she was singing to not feel cold in the sea overnight. The circumstances of how she fell are still being investigated. One cruise ship staffer said that it looked to him like Longstaff had jumped into the water after a day spent drinking and arguing with her boyfriend and friends. He claims Longstaff had been arguing with her boyfriend all week.
* So – they weren’t getting along swimmingly?
* Was it her buoyant personality that saved her?
* “I’M THE QUEEN OF THE WO-WHOOOOAAAAAA!!!”
* What songs do you sing when you fall overboard into the ocean? “Swim” by Madonna? “Float On” by Modest Mouse? Lyle Lovett’s “If I Had a Boat”?
* The nice part is – usually you gain weight on a vacation, but she got to burn about 20,000 calories.
* She’s just lucky that all the sharks in the world have gathered off America’s east coast, if you can believe the news reports.
* Why don’t cruise ships have a net running all along the outside – like those factories in China where the workers were always jumping off the roofs?
