AUDIO: THE SOUND OF THE PERSEVERANCE ROVER DRIVING ON MARS
NASA’s newest Mars rover, the Perseverance, has sent back the first-ever sounds of driving on the red planet. You hear a hum, and a lot of grinding, clanking and banging as the six metal wheels and suspension make their way across the Martian landscape. The driving audio contains a unexpected high-pitched scratching noise, according to NASA. Engineers are trying to figure it out.
* Perseverance is still learning how to drive stick?
* There are many who have pointed out how much this sounds like an American car built in the 1980’s.
* The next Mars mission will be a joint effort with Triple A.
* “Y’know, some of dem noise’ll buff right out, you betcha.”
* Grinding, clanking and banging noises. Darn fine return on our $2.9 billion budget!
