AUDIO: SHOCK BRACELET HELPS YOU BREAK HABITS

Looking to quit smoking, or cut back on calories? A company called Behavioral Technology in Salt Lake City, Utah, has created a wristband called the Pavlok bracelet that will give the wearer a 350-volt jolt every time they cross a line. For just $200 on Amazon, the Pavlok delivers a zap at your command. The sadistic fiends at Behavioral Technology say: “Aversion therapy is Pavlovian Conditioning – associate the habit you want to stop with a negative stimulus – like a mild shock – for a period of time, and the brain learns to associate the two stimuli together, and stops liking the habit.” The device can be programmed to shock automatically, or you can recruit a friend or family member to download the Pavlok app and send a shock when they feel you need it. The company claims that you’ll feel your urges subside “within 3-5 days.”
* And you’ll give up your friend or family member in half that time.
* For extra fun, you can attach it someplace other than your wrist.
* I’m waiting for the hack of the app that lets you zap random Pavlok wearers whenever you want.
* Worse than the shock on your wrist is the shock you’ll feel when you realize you paid $200 for something you wore for two zaps before you ripped it off and threw it across the room.
