AUDIO: POLICE CAR THIEF ASKS, "IS THIS A FELONY?"
Eric Sirmans was arrested last week after he jumped into a parked Daytona Beach, Florida, police cruiser and drove away, complete with blue and red lights flashing. Cops quickly tracked him down after about four blocks. An officer’s body camera video recorded the incident. As he’s being cuffed, police officers can be heard laughing when Sirmans asked the question, “Is this a felony?” Officer Steve Pignataro responded that, “Oh yeah, it’s like the toppest felony we can go.” Sirmans, 44, is charged with grand theft with damage more than $1,000, fleeing/attempting to elude and violation of pre-trial release conditions on a recent drug arrest.
* If you’re going to be feloning, stealing a cop car is the felonest felony you can felon.
* “It’s like the toppest felony we can go.” “Oh, stop with the fancy police jargon!”
* “Is it really the toppest?” “Oh, definitely. The tippy-toppest.”
* It’s not a good sign when the cop sounds as stupid as the perp.
* Guy’s played a little too much Grand Theft Auto.
* “Violation of pre-trial release conditions”? Yeah, little bit.
* But for four blocks, he was on top of the world.
* Hello, try locking the car doors next time.
* Mmm, we don’t normally hear from Daytona Beach until Spring Break.
* I know we have some serious party schools, but I doubt any of them start Spring Break in September.
