AUDIO: METALLICA SONG USED TO SCARE OFF COUGAR
A Canadian woman used a Metallica song to scare off a wild cougar. Dee Gallant of Duncan, British Columbia was taking her dog for a walk last week when she got the feeling she was being watched. She looked over and there was a cougar about 50 feet away, slowly creeping towards her. She was initially excited by seeing the animal, thinking “Cool that’s a cougar,” and then, “Oh my god it’s coming toward me.” First, she yelled at it, but that didn’t work. Then, an idea popped in her head. She quickly went through her iTunes and found Metallica’s ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ because it was the noisiest thing on her phone. As soon as the first notes blared out, the cougar ran into the woods. Gallant says she’s eternally grateful for Metallica and their powerful metal sound. “I would love to contact them some day and tell James Hetfield that he saved my life,” she mused.
* Yeah, I want free Metallica tickets too, lady. Ain’t gonna happen.
* She’s just lucky the cougar wasn’t a fan.
* The hardest part was trying to get the ear buds to stay in the cougar’s ears.
* Her dog didn’t run away. He’s been through this a lot and his hearing is shot.
