AUDIO: LITTLE LEAGUE DAD TELLS PITCHER SON “I LOVE YOU”

During a Little League World Series consolation matchup between Oregon and Italy on Monday, coach Joel Jensen headed to the mound to give the pitcher – his son Isaiah – some advice. Here’s what Jensen told his son:
“I just came out here to tell you how much I love you,” he said. “This is your last hitter,” he continues. “Understand? Come right after ’em.” He also told his son to “Cheer up and have some fun.” Bend, Oregon beat Emilia, Italy 6-2.
* (sniff) Oh, man, I’m Field of Dreamin’ here. (sniff)
* They cut the audio before he told his son, “Get this kid out or no sundae at Dairy Queen after the game.”
* Meanwhile, the infielder at first base was thinking, “What am I, chopped liver?”
* I wonder if this approach would help Minnesota’s pitching lineup this late in the season.
* How come when they put something on TV it always makes it seem sleazier?
* Maybe if he had said this earlier, they wouldn’t be in the consolation match.
* Wait, this is sports. Aren’t you supposed to berate them?
* I’m sure they’re not talking to their kids like this over in Russia.
* Wait, he didn’t give the kid a participation trophy for being out there?
