Ex-waiter Guillaume Rey is suing a restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia for firing him. Milestones Restaurant said Rey was axed for his “aggressive tone and nature” with co-workers while working as a waiter from October 2015 to August 2016. But Rey says his colleagues just misinterpreted his “direct and expressive” French attitude. He argues French people are just more straightforward than Canadians and this made him come off as sharp and abrasive. Rey will now have to explain in court what it is about French culture that makes French waiters come off as curt and insulting.
