AUDIO: ALAMO OPENS GODZILLA-THEMED CINEMA – ALL GODZILLA ALL THE TIME

Alamo Drafthouse has opened a new Drafthouse theater in California that will become the world’s first fully Godzilla-themed cinema. Teaming up with Japanese entertainment company Toho, who owns the Godzilla brand, the Alamo Drafthouse in Santa Clara, California features a two-story window projection of Godzilla at the front of the theater. Inside, everything is decked out with Godzilla and all the Kaiju monsters theming. At the bar are Godzilla-themed specialty cocktails; Godzilla merchandise will be available, the works. (* Lizard burgers?) And what about the movies? From now through July they’ll be running all sorts of Kaiju movies including Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs. Hedorah, and Mothra.
* They know those movies suck ass, right?
* Is Godzilla getting a cut? ‘Cause you don’t want to tick off Godzilla.
* Who exactly is the audience for this? The people who saw those early Godzilla movies are all dead, and the new Godzilla is designed for a specific subset of comic book nerds.
* I guess it could be worse. They could have made it all about the Sharknado movies.
