ANTARCTIC RESEARCHER STABS ANOTHER
A researcher stationed at an Antarctica base was stabbed by a colleague earlier this month after the attacker suffered an apparent emotional breakdown. Sergei Savitsky stabbed his co-worker Oleg Beloguzov in the chest while they were in the base’s dining room. Beloguzov was flown to a hospital in Chile. Savitsky was flown to St. Petersburg, Russia and he was arrested at the airport, charged with attempted murder. The incident was said to be triggered by “tensions in a confined space.” A motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
* It was just some … Thing.
* No, really, this is the plot of John Carpenter’s “The Thing”. It’s been nice knowing you.
* Stabbing your fellow Antarctic researcher. That’s cold.
* He’s in Antarctica and he didn’t even do the old “stab him with an icicle so the evidence just melts”?
* There’s only so many times you can take someone saying, “We just had another 20 inches of global warming.”
* “Tensions in a confined space”? Going to Mars is gonna be more fun than we thought.
