AMERICA’S RUDEST CITIES

Travel + Leisure surveyed its readers and came up with a list of America’s 15 Rudest Cities, based on quality-of-life features, like how walkable a city is, how safe it feels, and how cordial (or not) the locals seem:
15. Scottsdale, Arizona
14. Charlotte, North Carolina
13. Providence, Rhode Island
12. Las Vegas, Nevada
11. Detroit, Michigan
10. Ann Arbor, Michigan
9. Colorado Springs, Colorado
8. Dallas, Texas
7. Boston, Massachusetts
6. Salt Lake City, Utah
5. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
4. Los Angeles, California
3. New York City
2. Phoenix, Arizona
1. Miami, Florida
* Well, as we always say, the science is sound.
* “Travel + Leisure”? More like “Visit + Complain.”
* Chicago didn’t make the list, because nobody ever comes back from there alive to report how friendly it is.
* We have this many rude cities? Eat your heart out, France.
* Providence, Rhode Island? What the hell do they have to be cranky about?
* I get why being cordial is a factor but what does walkability have to do with rudeness?
* What? Are the sidewalks insulting you?
* Maybe the natives leave nasty chalk messages for tourists on the sidewalks?
* They say one factor is, “How safe it feels” but I think they meant “How scary it feels.”
* One note: This survey was made before Oklahoma City started making rude comments about Kevin Durant.
