AIRPLANE PASSENGER ASKS OBESE MAN TO PAY HIM $150 FOR SPILLING OVER INTO HIS SEAT

An anonymous traveler posted a story on Reddit’s “Am I the [Jerk]?” forum, looking for feedback. He was flying across the country on a 5-hour flight, He had pre-selected an aisle seat in a row of two, so there was no middle seat. After he had boarded and was in his seat, “a very obese man” got on the plane and, of course, had the window seat next to him. He let the other passenger in, and found that the heavy man was “spilling into about 1/3 of my seat.” After a minute, he told the guy, “Sir, I’m sorry but this situation is not working for me,” and alerted a flight attendant about the situation, who told him, of course, it was a full flight and no one could move. The man writes, “I felt bad for him but I was also thinking about my own comfort on the long flight — the comfort I paid for,” so he made his seatmate an offer. He told the large man, “I’ll put up with this if you give me $150 — that’s half the cost of this flight and that would compensate me enough for the circumstances.” The man claims that the overweight passenger “instantly agrees, pulls out cash, and pays.”
