ADULTING CLASSES

Are your children having trouble acting like adults? Adulting workshops are starting to pop up around the US. For example, last December, Christy Hardin, director of the Family Resource & Youth Services Center at Bullitt Central High School in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, organized a 1-day adulting event after parents expressed their grievances about their millennial children on social media. She had seen a Facebook post that parents passed around saying they needed a class in high school on taxes, and cooking. Hardin put on the event where high school seniors could choose from 11 different life skills like how to pay their bills, cook for themselves, change tires and interact with officers during traffic stops.
* We had something similar in my day. We called it “school”. What the hell are they teaching kids these days, with their video games and their rock and roll music.
* They need to put on adulting seminars for, you know, adults.
* I’m holding an adulting workshop after the show. Who wants to learn how to wash and detail a car? Meet me in the parking lot.
* PHONE TOPIC: What life skill did you learn much too late? Cooking? The bus system? How to do laundry? How to read a map?
