A NEW PARENT’S LIFE CAPTURED IN ONE STORE RECEIPT

A quick cute story: Are you thinking of having a baby? Do you have dreamy images of leisurely cuddling and snuggling? Get a dose of reality from this store receipt found in the parking lot of a Tesco all-purpose store in England. It was posted to Facebook by the wife of the man who picked it up, and has received thousands of responses. Of course, diapers are called “nappies” over there, and this parent was obviously running low and had to dash out for more. But, as their receipt shows, they grabbed some other “essentials”, too, which perfectly sums up the life of a parent. The receipt reads:
NAPPIES . . . £ 3.75
NAPPIES . . . £ 3.75
NAPPIES . . . £ 3.75
DOUGHNUTS . . £ 0.65
RED WINE . . £ 4.05
How realistic is this? One commenter, Christina Dobson, wrote: “Can’t believe this – ashamed to say after a really tough day yesterday hubby and I had doughnuts and red wine for tea last night!”
So when is your little bundle of joy due?
* This could also be the receipt from somebody’s grandparents.
* Nappies … there’s something about British slang, isn’t there, love?
* Well, I say bullocks. Babies are the bees knees and I’m gobsmacked that they printed this.
* Maybe the parents were just knackered.
* I don’t want to start a kerfuffle but printing this was a real cock up.
* Red wine for 4 pounds? Going with the good stuff, I see.
