BATMAN CATCHES SHOPLIFTER
Officer Damon Cole of the Fort Worth, Texas police department, who travels the country dressed as various superheroes – usually to visit kids with cancer – happened to be at a neighborhood safety fair for children, dressed as Batman. That’s when he heard about a shoplifter at the nearby Walmart who stole four DVDs. Instead of ignoring the call, Officer Cole went to the Walmart to arrest the man. The tricky part was convincing store managers that he was an actual cop. He told them, “I want you to know I have this Batman costume on but I’m an off-duty police officer.” (* Hey – that’s MY pickup line!) Ironically, among the things the shoplifter tried to take: The Lego Batman Movie.
* Did the other movies include “Kick-Ass” and “Super”? (Movies with regular guys acting as superheroes. But you knew that, ’cause you’re cool.)
* Batman showed up to arrest the guy who was … Robbin’.
* A couple people thought he was Ben Affleck and started booing.
* Twenty years of roaming the country wearing that costume. But it was all worth it to catch … a DVD shoplifter.
