GROUP WANTS TO REPLACE METRO ADS WITH CAT PHOTOS
A group of cat lovers are raising money for a project to replace all the advertisements at a Washington, D.C. train station with photos of cats. The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service, or C.A.T.S., did the same thing last year at London’s Clapham Station. The group now wants to take over a D.C. Metro station in a similar fashion. The group says on its Kickstarter page: “It may be a silly project, but it’s a distraction from the chaotic lives we live. It’s a way to step out of the norm of ads on the Metro…away from convincing us to buy a brand new car, or looking mighty fine in a brand new pair of jeans…or politics. Even if cats won’t make you happy, you will smile once you walk past one of these.”
* This is so goofy I’m surprised Shia LaBeouf isn’t involved.
* It could happen, once the group raises their goal of 237 million dollars to replace the existing advertising.
* As a commuter, could you tolerate that much cute in the morning?
* They should have named their group People United to Stop Selling You Stuff.
* It may be a silly project? Trust me, there’s no “may be” about it.
* This is the advertising version of the weird cat woman down the street.
* Then again it could be a very effective way to scare any rats out of the station.
