WOMAN GETS MISSING WALLET BACK, WITH MONEY INTACT
A Boston woman whose wallet was stolen in 2009 said she was shocked to get it back – and even more shocked to see it still contained all of her cash. Nursing student Courtney Connolly said the wallet was taken out of her car during a summer internship in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, in 2009, and somehow during the ensuing eight years the wallet found its way back to Boston, where it ended up in the hands of a police officer Monday. The officer used a pay stub in the wallet to track down Connolly, who said the cash, the credit cards and her social security number were never used. Connolly said the wallet even still had a fortune cookie message taped to the inside: “Soon you’ll receive pleasant news.” And to top it off, the fortune proved true – the $141 that sat untouched in the wallet for eight years is the exact amount Connolly said she needs to enter an upcoming powerlifting tournament.
* Next time, on World’s Worst Criminals …”
* I knew dogs could find their way home, but wallets?
* It’s a nice story, except for the part where nobody who touched the wallet in the past eight years bothered to contact Courtney from the pay stub.
* “Gee, here’s someone’s full name and the company she works for. I wonder if I should – nah, screw it.”
* EXACTLY $141? Come on. Fake. Fake news.
* Quick – without looking, tell me exactly how much money is in your wallet. See? And I’m going to ask you again in eight years to see if you remember.
* I was just picturing Nursing Student Courtney from Boston and then she threw in the part about the powerlifting tournament.
* Now I’m really into her.
* 2009. It already seems like another world, doesn’t it?
* That’s because it was another world.
