LUCKY PENNY TREASURE HUNT
You could win $1,000 simply by finding a penny. The Ally Financial Company has created 100 special Ally Lucky Pennies. They have an Ally logo on the front and the number “100,000” on the back. Each is worth $1,000, and each is hidden in plain sight in select cities around the country, waiting for you to pick them up. The cities where the pennies are hidden are San Diego, L.A., Austin, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte, Miami, Washington, D.C. and New York. The pennies are apparently placed on the ground in several locations, and clues are given, such as, “This San Diego landmark was built on moving pictures, but not words.” If you think you found an Ally Lucky Penny, you have to go to their website (allyluckypenny.com) and enter the code on the back of your penny to find out instantly. Said Andrea Riley, chief marketing officer for Ally, “We hope that people will have fun searching for Ally Lucky Pennies in their cities and that the campaign will inspire people to look at money in a different way.”
* Let me get this straight: they are printed with the number 100,000, but are only worth $1,000.
* Sounds like a typical bank, then.
* Maybe the point is that Ally Financial has just blown $100,000 on a dumb promotion.
* I wish I had a penny for every one of these I have to hear about.
* No way anything can go wrong with this. Treasure hunts always work.
* Has the Ally Financial Company lost their cents?
* More or less fun than hunting Pokemons? Let’s open the phones.
* The Ally Financial Corporation? Doesn’t that sound like a name in a comic book?
* Sure, maybe Superman or Dick Tracy.
* I know: “All of Gotham City was on edge as Batman watched over the Ally Financial Corporation.”
* One grand? So they really are penny pinchers then.
