MCDONALD'S GIVES 100-YEAR-OLD REGULAR CUSTOMER FREE MEALS FOR LIFE

In a perfect example of “Correlation does not imply causation,” Nadine Baum, a 100-year-old woman from Hanover, Maryland, credits her longevity in part to eating at McDonald’s almost every day. Last Thursday, Baum and her son visited the McDonald’s she usually frequents, where the employees know her by name, to have a quick lunch to celebrate her 100th birthday. When Baum arrived, she was shocked to find the store filled with balloons, flowers and even a customized birthday cake on her regular table. Baum and her son Mike have been going to this particular McDonald’s together for about five or six years. Sean Patterson, general manager of the restaurant, said he wanted to make Baum’s 100-year milestone extra special, so in addition to the cupcakes, balloons, flowers and cards, the McDonald’s team gave the centenarian a certificate for a lifetime supply of free McDonald’s. “I just can’t get over this,” Baum said as she smiled and thanked everyone around her. “This is so wonderful.”
* It’s “so wonderful”? I guess she hasn’t had too many good things happen to her in 100 years.
* Free food for life. Man, that’s gonna cost the McDonald’s, what, about 40 bucks?
* Personally, I’m not sure it’s a good idea to throw a surprise at a 100-year-old.
* It’s not a long trip from “I just can’t get over this” to “I’m stroking out!”
* The surprise is that someone who eats there every day could live that long.
* She credits her long life to eating at McDonald’s? Darn, it’s sad when their brain starts to go, isn’t it?
* She wanted a quick lunch for her birthday because at that age you don’t have much time to waste.
* Her son couldn’t take her out to a better place? I guess he’s waiting for a special occasion.
* The rest of us could do this much faster: Just eat there a lot and you’ll have 100-year-old arteries soon enough.
