MARSHMALLOW PEEPS WORKERS GO ON STRIKE

About 400 workers at the Pennsylvania plant that makes marshmallow Peeps are on strike. Workers walked out of the Just Born plant in Bethlehem on Wednesday afternoon. The plant also makes Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales candies. The workers are protesting the company’s proposals on wages, health benefits and switching from a pension plan to a 401(k). Employees have been working under an expired contract since June. Members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union Local 6 voted to strike on Sept. 2 after unanimously rejecting the company’s most recent contract offer.
* Be strong, workers. Don’t go soft.
* We called them for a comment, but we couldn’t get a Peep out of them.
* Which would make sense if they’re on strike.
* The plant also makes Mike and Ike? This could be the break Good ‘n’ Plenty has been waiting for.
* This could be a diseaster.
* Wait, they provide Americans with candy? Talk about having leverage.
* Especially with Halloween coming next month.
* Seriously, how long before the government intercedes?
* That must be the best smelling factory on earth.
* Sure, we can take a fake war every now and then, but when you interfere with our snacks, you’re going to see our fighting side.
